My old school mate Angus Macfadyen is about to attempt to run the London Marathon on crutches to raise money for the charity No More Land Mines and to also try and make a new Guiness World Record!
Angus who is a cameraman had a nasty accident last year which involved a colision with a two inch steel cable whilst he was filming on location. This left him with a broken leg and a very sore head. After some weeks in bed, in true Angus style, picked himself up and started on the road to recovery.
Angus made a full recovery from his injuries but along the way had the crazy idea that he wanted to attempt the London Marathon on crutches. His chosen charity is No More Land Mines and in his own words,
"Temporarily losing the use of one leg gave me a brief insight into the mobility issues faced by victims of land mines, those fortunate enough to live.
"Having worked as a cameraman for the past ten years and travelled to some of the world's war hotspots, I've seen first hand the fear that land mines cause communities and their people and the massive destruction they leave behind."
As we are such charitable chaps, A&M stepped in to help promoting the cause in the press, and have had successful usage in the national and local press.
