I think its probably every photographers worst nightmare to have completed a job only to discover that your files are corrupt or missing. In the days of film losing your images was a lot more straight forward and easily explained, either you opened the camera back with the film still in the camera or the dev machine chewed your film. I completed a job yesterday and disaster struck. After plugging my camera card into my card reader I discovered that there were no readable files...oh bugger.
I tried several different things including banging my head against the wall, smashing up my card reader, I was resigned to the fact that I had lost all the files and that I would now have to phone my client and tell him that I had no pictures from the one off pr shoot/stunt they had arranged.
After having a sleepless night I searched the internet and found a piece of PC software called ZAR Image Recovery, at this point I thought anything was worth a try. I'm a Mac user but my wife has a PC so I downloaded the software and applied it to the corrupt camera card. A MIRACLE has occured!! All my files miraculously appeared including some from a previous job which had been deleted from the card. So I was able to recover the files and send them over to the client..phew!
Here are a few of the promotional pics for the Zoo Festival it would have been a shame to have lost these for good!
